LRT Unit 1-4
うーん, まだまだブレインストーミングに時間かかり過ぎだな. きっとまだまだ妄想力が足りないんだろう. しかしまぁ, うまく時間制限をかけてあげればTOEFL iBT writingの良い練習にはなりそうかな.
Unit 1, Lesson Review Task
1. What are your goals for learning English? Why?
There is one specific goal for learning English; specifically, because of this purpose, I take this Tutorial English course.
I want to brush up my speaking skills because I am planned to visit Czech Republic to work as an intern on this summer vacation, through IAESTE Exchange program. In this program, I will work at a software engineering company in Prague, Czech, so I am required somewhat high English abilities, such as to fluently and efficiently communicate and to discuss some technical problems. However, there are few opportunities to speak English in Japan; subsequently, my English speaking skills will rust out even if I read a lot of English textbooks. To solve this problem, this course, Tutorial English, clicks with my purpose to achieve, so I took it to improve my English speaking skills higher to overcome problems I will meet this summer.
2. Explain why it is important to clarify the meaning of something you haven’t understood. Give two examples of Conversation Management language, from the front page of your textbook, in your answer.
Clarifying the meaning of what I have not understood is definitely beneficial for my future works, for the following reasons.
First, I will meet same problems anyway if I leave clarifying the meaning of a word. In addition, clarifying the meaning may take some bothersome steps because there are words which have many meanings in it. However, I can cut such waste time if I just say "What does xxxx mean?" at that time. As this example shows, clarifying the meaning is beneficial for future works.
Additionally, I can expand my vocabulary network if I use the phrase, "What's another word for xxxx?", in each time when I meet unknown words. Expanding vocabulary has a positive influence on my images, such as my image of maturity, which may make what I say in discussion persuasive.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that clarifying the meaning of what I have not understood is beneficial for my future works.
---------------------------------------------------------
Unit 2, Lesson Review Task
1. Which one of your English skills would you like to improve the most? How can you work on it during this course?
I would like to improve a listening skill the most, and I hope I am able to brush it up during this course, for the following reason.
It is because comparing 4 skills, which are reading, listening, speaking and writing skills, a listening skill is the lowest skill for me, based on my TOEFL iBT score. As I said in previous lesson, I desire for studying abroad and therefore I have to take some steps. Taking a good score of TOEFL iBT, which is an examination for non-native students to study abroad, is one of the steps. I have taken this exam several times, but a listening score fluctuated widely, so I want to take a good listening score constantly. For this reason, in my opinion, I should take an advantage of this course; specifically, I should go to a booth on time and prepare for each unit before lesson, as a tutor mentioned on his comment. Doing this stuffs, I will take an advantage, and consequently I will take a good listening score of TOEFL iBT.
2. Using the language from Unit 2, describe the character of one family member, one of your friends, or a famous person you see in the media, such as your favorite musician and discuss how compatible you are with that person.
My best friend is a so strong-will person and therefore he is often described as a self-centered person. However, because of the characteristics of him, if you ask me, I am compatible with him.
First, he strongly values to spend his time for himself, which is one of the reasons why he seems to be self-centered, but he also values others to spend their time for themselves. In my opinion, because of this point of view, our relationship is so even-tempered that we get along with each other for a long time.
In addition, he always clarifies his place with strong will. If you ask me, most of Japaneses, maybe including me, tend to avoid discussing with others. I consider that they are potentially scared to lose their friends through discussion, because they are hardly educated about how to discuss in the compulsory education term. However, he does not care about such a thing, and always clarifies what points we conflict or what points we misunderstand, with strong will. Therefore, I am able to deeply understand what he thinks, so I get on well with him.
---------------------------------------------------------
Unit 3, Lesson Review Task
1. In what ways can you use the Internet to improve your English language skills? Are these part of your study plan?
There are numerous different ways to improve our English language skills using the Internet; however, I believe that the ways related to cause interactions are the most effective ways of all ways using the Internet.
First of all, we are able to brush up input skills, reading and listening, by ourselves without the Internet, but output skills, writing and speaking, are improved only by limited ways such as interactions between learners. Subsequently, we better take advantage of improving output skills using the Internet because the Internet can cause interactions easily. For example, I have some foreign friends who are also a learner of English as well, but most of them do not stay in Japan, so we cannot meet frequently. However, some of softwares, such as Skype and MSN messenger, can connect us using the Internet. Also, the softwares can let us communicate with almost no delay, even if we have a very long distance such as between Japan and France. If we could not have used such a technology, the Internet, we have not practiced in such a way.
Hence, I believe that we can brush up our English skills using the Internet in a way to communicate with foreign friends.
2. Using the language from Unit 3, state your opinion about the Japanese education system, support it and elicit agreement.
I do not believe that the Japanese education system is the best way to bring up Japanese people. Specifically, the system should conclude an education of how to succeed a discussion, because as far as I am concerned, Japaneses often discuss same topics as what they have discussed before. Don't you agree with this problem?
---------------------------------------------------------
Unit 4, Lesson Review Task
1. Why do you think there is an “English only” rule in the Tutorial
English booths? Do you stay in the booth during the break? Why or why not?
Some of students may say that they would like to go out from the booth to speak Japanese during the break; however, staying in the booth and talking with classmates in English provides me with motivations to study English, which can be connected with a reason why there is an "English only" rule in the classroom.
First of all, talking with classmates in English during the break encourages us to study at English much more because we are able to notice how difficult practical English is at that time. For example, when I took the break in Unit 4, I talked with Takahiro about his transfer. Being different from when the class goes on, during the break we often talk about real situations, which is a little more difficult to explain than in class activities such as a role-play situation. Therefore, we are required to explain complex things; in other words, we have the time to use down-to-earth English. Needless to say, this practical communication in English often causes miscommunication, but also it notices us that we should improve English skills to communicate better. As this example shows, I believe that talking in English during th break stimulates us to study English much more.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that staying in the booth and talking with classmates in English provides me with motivations to study English.
2. Using the language from Unit 4, introduce an issue that you are
concerned about. Why does it concern you? Is there a solution?
One problem facing Japan is so concerned about a problem that it makes the matter worse than the situation that we do not know it, because of less of information. I strongly recommend any institution and any person that are going to publish something important to inform, to consider the point of view from the opposite side. Also, ordinal people should know that information are often lacked of fairness.
For institutions and someone related to publish, what I am trying to say is that we do care about how much we can publish information fairly. Ideally, the publication should be completely fair, but defining the common fairness among all people is difficult, so I suggested we should be concerned about how much we are able to make the publication get close to be fair.
The important of fair publication is that we can consider the matter from two sides carefully and help to get know of the truth; also, it lets us prevent from being too concerned. Through the Japanese mass medias, we are easily aware that the mass medias are rarely concerned about fairness; for example, none of mass medias agree with the statement and behavior of what Japan prime minister says, even if the statement and behavior are assessed to be highly praised by other countries.
Although I mentioned above about the problem of fair publication, the solution is so simple that we, ordinal people, just know how to evaluate information, which means that we just care about what information is lacked. Some publication may have no lacked information, but considering forewarned is forearmed, suspecting published information will be worthwhile.
Finally, most of Japaneses are taken for granted that published information are fair, true, and unmalicious; however, as we cannot avoid making a mistake, and also not all people are reliable, we have to care about how to evaluate information.

Lesson Review Tasks 1-10
These below are my answers for Lesson Review Tasks in Unit 1 through 10. If you will take the course "Tutorial English" at Waseda University, this might be useful to understand how much qualities get score high, because even these answers, which are not so good for answer, were graded the highest score. By the way, after looking over all the answers, I noticed that the quality of each answer deteriorates gradually, as time goes. Actually, it must be boring anyway because this task gives me no feedback from graders. Students would be glad, if graders would have given them comments, even very short comments, to each answer, I hope.
-Lesson Review Task 1 through 10-
[Unit 1]
1. Do you think this course will be helpful for you? Tell me your study plan for this month.
Yes, I think this course will be helpful for me for the following reason. Most importantly, this course will be helpful for me to practice the speaking section of TOEFL iBT. In Japan, where I live, we can easily self-study at other sections, which are Reading, Listening and Writing; however, I cannot easily self-study at the Speaking section because the section evaluates test-takers’ delivery, language use and topic development. Especially, delivery cannot self-study efficiently because it is an interaction, not self-action, so we should improve the skills through general communication, for example. Therefore, I strongly believe that this course, Tutorial English pre-advanced, will be so helpful for improving the required skills of the speaking section.2. What was your favorite subject in high school? (Use the AAA technique to answer this question.)
My favorite subject in high school is the Introduction Programming course because I was able to learn a lot of skills required for my current department, computer science. Specifically, the course helped me understand the object-oriented programming which is an important way of thinking when we make a computer program. Thanks to this previous knowledge, I was able to easily follow the courses in university. Do you have any subjects which helped you after graduating high school?
[Unit 2]
1. Are you confident about interrupting or changing the subject in English? Why or why not?
Yes, I am confident about interrupting or changing the subject in English because I learned a lot of useful phrases to do that from this Unit 2. For instance, when I would like to change a topic in English conversation, I only put in the phrases before the next topic I would like to talk, such as “By the way”, “It’s funny you should say that” and “Sorry to interrupt, but” Therefore, I have strongly confident about interrupting or changing the subject in English.2. Using the Language from Unit 2, write a mini conversation between you and a friend. Don't forget to change the subject once.
Friend: Hey, Yohei! Nice day, isn't it?Yohei: Yes, it’s pretty fine. What's new?Friend: Yes, I got surprising news, today.Friend: Did you hear that Chika is possibly on the dean's list at Waseda University?Yohei: Really! That’s great! I feel she currently studies so hard that she is able to score higher.Friend: By the way, did you also hear that Chika has a new boyfriend?Yohei: Wow! I did not know that, but perhaps, it might promote her intention to study.Friend: I think so too, because she seems really happy in both academic and private life.Yohei: Her boyfriend would be a very positive impact on her life. I have come up to want my girlfriend.Friend: Interesting, but you cannot choose Chika as a girlfriend, anyway.Yohei: That’s right.Yohei: Well, I have got to go because I have a class.Friend: Okay. See you later.
[Unit 3]
1. Why do you think there is an "English only" rule in the Tutorial English booths? Do you stay in the booth during the break? Why or why not?
Yes, I often stay in the booth and talk with classmates during the break, because it is a good opportunity for me to improve my speaking skills. Additionally, I think the rule “English only” is set up to help student’s future activities global. In Waseda University, although other departments might have many international students whom local students have to talk in English, the science and engineering department’s students are almost Japanese. Thereby, plenty of students in the science and engineering department only use Japanese. However, all the students have to require English skills if they will present their result of research, so they should make full use of opportunities that they are able to use English. To help such activities in the future, there is a rule “English only”, and I often stay in the booth during the break for preparing my own future activities.2. Using the Language from Unit 3, tell me about a memorable day you had in junior high school.
I vividly remember that a memorable day, when I had in junior high school, is the day to check the result whether I passed an entrance examination of high school or not. To score high at the exam, I was always preparing for the exam, when I was a third year student. Additionally, because I was on a basketball club, I was always so busy for three activities which are studying at school, the club activity after school, and preparing the exam to attend cram school in the evening. Needless to say, then daily life was not quiet, but I am pretty sure that continuing these three activities gave me a progress. However, because I was given only one chance to take the exam, I was very anxious, so I remember the day to check whether I passed or not, like it was yesterday. As a result, as I am here now, I was able to pass the exam of Waseda University High school, one of the most difficult private high schools to pass.
[Unit 4]1. Explain in detail what you should do to thoroughly prepare for each lesson. How much time should you spend to prepare?
In my opinion, we should do at least two preparations for each lesson. One is to skim the units which we will study in next class, and find out whether there are words we do not know, or not. Also, if we discover the word, we should check the word using dictionaries. Another one is to do something that the “preparation” section shows. These I showed above are the preparations, at least.
However, if we have enough time to prepare thoroughly, we should do two more extra preparations. One is to remember all phrases indicated by bold style in each can-do function, because it cuts the time to remember them in class. Thereby, we can use extra time to deeply understand each section. Another one is to understand what we will work with classmates. For example, if there is a role play section in units, the section or its similar section would be taken up. Preparing working with classmates, we would be able to make full use of discussion in class, because of needless to understand the role play section.
In conclusion, preparing four things I mentioned above, I strongly believe that we could maximize this class; also, even if we do not have enough time to prepare them, at least we should prepare two things I stated at the beginning, for each lesson.
2. Using the Language from Unit 4, agree or disagree with the following statement and state why: People should be able to smoke on the subway.
If you ask me, I disagree with the statement that people should be able to smoke on the subway for the following reason.
Most importantly, smoke made by the smoker makes additional tasks to employees of subway. To take an example, in 2000, I was a student at local junior high school, where there is a smoking room for teachers. Needless to say, there is a vent for smoke in the room, so we did not care about smoke. However, on January, we had an event to do the school cleaning, and then I was given the assignment to clean up the smoking room. In the room, there were almost no dusts or garbage which we should clear up, but a lot of tars were on the wall. The tars were difficult to wipe up, so I took plenty of times to finish my assignment. The way I see it, that difficult experience would cause in this case of subway; thereby, the employees’ work would increase because of the additional tasks.
In addition, remaining smoke on the subway has negative impact on other users who are sharing space with smokers. For example, when I was a sophomore in university, I went to the Shinsai-bashi in Osaka, Japan, where there was a long shopping mall under the ground. Although the shopping mall had good restaurants, souvenir shops and general stores, the shopping malls did not have a smoking room, but smoking area on the mall. As a result, I had to inhale smoke when I walked through around the smoking area, because the situation in underground kept smoke remaining from escaping to the ground. Thereby, it made me a little unpleasant, and in fact, there were no people without smokers around the smoking area. According to this example, this case occurs on the subway as well because the subway is also under the ground.
In conclusion, I argue that the statement that people should be able to smoke on the subway should not be allowed.
[Unit 5] 1. You have two Lesson Review Task questions to answer after each class. Why is it important to use the language from the lesson in the second question and answer both questions in detail?
The reason why answering two Lesson Review Tasks using the can-do function is important is that we are able to remind the can-do function we learned in class. Additionally, we can lay be remembered. For example, when students take class, instructors teach us new knowledge in each class, and they learn new things from class. However, most students run over the new things when final tests or reports are coming, because reminding new knowledge is very useful ways to remember longer and more deeply understand them. Therefore, they can score high in the tests or reports.
This example happens in this case, the class of Tutorial English. If we make useful of what we learned out of the class, we should remember longer and understand deeply them. Specifically, we should remind what we learned. As the functional way of reminding them, we have the task called Lesson Review Task. Therefore, answering questions asked by Lesson Review Task by using the can-do function is important.
2. I think I'm coming down with the flu. Using the Language from Unit 5, give me some medical advice.
In my opinion, if you would like to be feeling 100 percents, you should do three things. First, gargle with warm, salty water or mouth wash to protect your throat from bacteria. Second, put ice on your forehead and side to prevent from getting your condition worse. Third, stay home and rest with your body warming to help your body itself fight off the flu. I hope you will soon be up and about. Take care!
[Unit 6]1. Are you able to express your opinions in English more clearly now? Why or why not?
I am able to express what I think in English more clearly now because I learned how to express opinions from Unit 4, such as “The way I see it” and “As far as I am concerned”. Before I took the class of Unit 4, I state my opinion by saying a few common phrases, such as “I agree with” and “I disagree with” which”. Those phrases are certainly useful, but it cannot show how many percentages I agree or disagree. However, since I had learned other several useful phrases such as “I could not agree more”, I am able to how much I agree or disagree with matters. Therefore, I strongly believe that I am able to express my opinions in English more clearly now.
2. Using the Language from Unit 6, recommend something to do near Waseda University on a Saturday afternoon.
It depends on what you are a student or teacher now, but if so, I suggest you go to a gym in Gakusei Kaikan, which is near from Waseda University and opens even on weekends. Nearby Waseda University, there are other several gyms, but we have to pay about 5,000 yen per one month for registration, or pay about 500 yen per one time as a guest. In contrast, the gym I suggested cost just 2,000 yen per one year for registration, which is incredible reasonable. Therefore, why don’t you try to go to the gym?
[Unit 7] 1. What topics do you need to review from Units 1-6?
I think I need to review from Unit 4, Express Opinions and Agree and Disagree, because this unit has a lot of useful phrases to discuss with people. In my department, computer science, there are several opportunities which require discussion skills for senior students, such as classes whose teacher explains some technologies in English and video conferences which we must speak English to communicate other country’s students. Although I am not a senior but junior, it is clear that I will meet those opportunities many times in the future. In addition, I would express my opinions flexibly if I review this unit. For example, it reduces misunderstandings where I stand in discussion. Also, I would be able to disagree with other’s statement without giving too much negative impact. For these reasons, the phrases written in Unit 4 would be useful for my future activities. Therefore, if you ask me, I need to review from Unit 4.
2. Look over Units 1-6 and list some phrases or words that you feel will be useful and explain why.
As the same reason that I answered to a previous question, I feel these phrases listed up below will be useful for my future activities.
[Express opinions]
“The way I see it”, “As far as I’m concerned”, “If you ask me”, “My point is”, “I’d like to point out”, “Don’t you agree”, “Wouldn’t you say”
[Agreeing]
“I agree”, “Exactly”, “I couldn’t agree more”, “That’s just what I was thinking”, “I agree with the point you made about”, “You made a good point about”
[Disagreeing]
“Yes, that’s true, but”, “Maybe, but”, “I disagree”, “I don’t agree”
[Unit 8]
1. Do you think you will be using English in 20 years? Why or why not?
Yes, I believe that I will be using English in 20 years while I am in my field, computer science. There are 2 main reasons why I believe so. First, most of programming languages are composed of English, such as C and JAVA. Also, manuals of them are written in English. Even though there are some manuals written in Japanese, the amount of information they have is clearly lower than the manuals in English. Thus, while making a program, I will be using English even in 20 years. Second, most of famous conferences, contests and textbooks are used in English, so English skills are important tools to study at computer efficiently. In addition, in the field of science and engineering, having a board outlook is an essential element to conduct a research. If I do not have a broad outlook, I would research something which is already found by other researchers. Therefore, broadening my outlook, studying and using English to gather information is necessary. As I show the reasons above, I strongly believe that I will be using English in 20 years.
2. What job do you think your best friend would be suited for? Why? (Use the Language from Unit 8)
I believe that my best friend, Waseda Taro, would suit the researcher in the field of computer science, because he is quick study and efficient. In computer science, researchers are required not resourceful or eager beaver, but quick study and efficient. As is widely alleged, new computer technologies develop more quickly any other fields; consequently, researchers should always catch up with the new technologies in order to enhance or produce newer technologies. However, if researchers have to spend much time to learn them, they would lose their time to conduct their research. Therefore, researchers in computer science should be quick study and efficient. Getting back to the character of Waseda Taro, actually he is not so eager beaver and resourceful, but he is quick study and efficient, so I believe that he would find the job of a research in computer science.
[Unit 9]1. How do you remember new English words and phrases?
Many of my friends remember new English words and phrases using word list which English meanings are in left side, and Japanese meanings are in right side. They remember English words and phrases hiding each side of the list, and try to translate them in another side, such as translating a Japanese word into an English word. In my opinion, a lot of Japanese people remember English words and phrases in this way. For me, I do remember English not in the usual way, but in the new way that translates an image into English.
The new way is proposed by the some linguists, such as Onishi Taito and P.C.McVay who have master’s degree of linguistics in Oxford University. This new method is clearly simple that we do not remember new languages using translation from our own mother tongue, but remember them from images. According to what the linguists mention, the benefit of this way is that we remember something faster, and hardly forget it than we remember it using word list at least. To take a personal example, I was able to remember new English words and phrases certainly, and I hardly forget them, which is clearly more efficient for me to remember something.
Therefore, I remember new English words and phrases using image, not characters.
2.Using the Language from Unit 9, tell me what you think is the biggest problem facing university graduates today? What are some solutions?
If you ask me, the biggest problem facing university graduates is that makes the situation of finding a job more difficult, because of Economic Crisis, which approximately started from bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers Holding Inc. Fortunately, Japan did not have a credit obligation of subprime loan in USA so much; consequently, Japan are lightly affected from the crises, by comparing other countries such as Iceland. However, even in Japan, the crises certainly have a negative impact on Japanese companies, and students who will do job hunting in the future. For example, a student who will graduate at Meiji University, which is one of the famous universities in Japan, received a job offer letter from a banking company, and he did not have any problem to graduate the university. However, the company suddenly withdrew an employment offer and sent him 500,000 yen as a charge of firing. Subsequently, he had to find a new job, but it was difficult because he was not a fresh graduate. In Japan, not fresh graduates have difficulty in finding a job because they are usually considered that they have some problem to be fired. As this example above illustrates, the biggest problem facing university graduates today is that they are possibly hired in sudden, and it makes their situation to find a new job worse.
[Unit 10]1. What can you do to improve your non-verbal communication skills?
If you ask me, non-verbal communication skills would be improved significantly when people are in place where all languages they learned are not in effect. In the situation, people have to deeply consider at how to communicate other people with non-verbal communication skills, because they have no other tools to communicate. Subsequently, their non-verbal communication skills would be improved. However, for me, placing me in the situation is very difficult because Okubo-campus has no such a place. Instead, I suggest to improving the skills, making the situation by design, such as talking with my friend with no language but gesture and drawing something. In doing so, we would get the same effect as placing me in the situation.2. Your parent accused you of spending too much money on your hobby. Justify your reason(s) using the Language from Unit 10.
There is a good reason for it. You know, my hobby is building up a computer, so I thought I would surprise you with giving you my original computer which I am building up, which is more user-friendly, reasonably and sophisticatedly than other computers you can buy in shops. For this reason, I had to spend money.

1st Technical Presentation
今日、初めて理系絡みの正式なpresentationを5分間だけやらせていただきました。使用言語は英語で、形式はspeaking from the points, not reading a script。
・ 冒頭で、~~~in order to~~~を忘れない。
・ MS PPT2007 <-> 2003の互換機能は糞。
明日はTOEFL iBT speakingのpreテストか。45秒だから、一度突っかかったら死亡フラグが立つわけだ。まずは、brainstorming能力を磨かないとな。圧倒的に足りない気がする。

Therefore, I strongly believe that this course, Tutorial English pre-advanced, will be so helpful for improving the required skills of the speaking section.

I can spark England very well.
Goodafternoooooooooooon!
Today, I dropped by this web page below.

,where there are so unique sentences, thou? i was not able to look at the sentences, such as the title of this post, without laughing. this is, we can probably say, 2channelic english. even now, u know, i can't write english politely, and can't produce english with uniqueness. so i hope i could handle english as funny as the sentences on the webpage, not only to straight express stuff.
P.S.
i wonder if i finish weekly homework...but, i believe it's ok because i got the proverb(?)...
...IT'S NOT TIME FOR PANIC YET, though i'm going to participate in camp tommorow. right?

Today, I dropped by this web page below.
http://news4vip.livedoor.biz/archives/51202593.html
,where there are so unique sentences, thou? i was not able to look at the sentences, such as the title of this post, without laughing. this is, we can probably say, 2channelic english. even now, u know, i can't write english politely, and can't produce english with uniqueness. so i hope i could handle english as funny as the sentences on the webpage, not only to straight express stuff.
P.S.
i wonder if i finish weekly homework...but, i believe it's ok because i got the proverb(?)...
...IT'S NOT TIME FOR PANIC YET, though i'm going to participate in camp tommorow. right?

Mini-research project "Revised"
It's soooooooooooooooooooo difficult for me to grasp the theory of analog modulation, but what I have studied at analog modulation is just about amplitude modulation, not including frequency modulation :( gee. the next experiment is that. hahaha I have had enough!

Investigating what program makes full use of CPU for improving programming skill of non-major computer science programmer [Revised]
Introduction
In 2008, we can easily make a program using computer because plenty of computer scientists have helped an improvement about computer. However, at the birth of the computer called ENIAC in 1945[1], no one was able to use computer without a computer scientist because the way of programming of it was only to wire by hand. This means that a programmer was not able to program without knowledge of computer architecture in those days. However, from 1960s to 1970s, plenty of programming language which were designed to be easier for human to understand were revised or born, which is called 3rd generation programming language[2]. Following that, from 1980s to 1990s, the ability of programming language had improved rapidly, which are 4th or 5th generation programming language[3][4]. For this reason, now even a person who does not know about computer architecture was able to program if the person knows just some programming language. As a result, in 2000s, the number of programmer has been increased, and in 2008, there are numerous programmers in the world.
However, in some business society, the number of programmer is fewer than the number of what most companies need, so the companies decide to hire a person who is not computer scientist as a programmer. As a result of this decision, the companies can produce a lot of big softwares. On the other hand, the execution speeds of software can sluggish even if using high-performance CPU, in other words, big software can run smoothly on only high-spec computer. This kind of problem is caused when programmers code the program by not thinking about CPU. Therefore, we need to improve all of programmers’ skill totally, so we should summarize and list up how to make full use of CPU for non-major computer science programmers.
In this paper, we will suggest ten commandments about how to code by making full use of CPU in each case of programming for the programmers. In particular, we will look at clock per cycle of CPU from running program to finish, and find out the good performance code with comparing each code. We hope programmers understand these commandments, and then urge to totally improve the quality of software in business society.

What program is kind?: Investigating the kind programming for computer architecture, using Internet website resources for making full use of CPU
Introduction
In 2008, we can easily program using computer because plenty of computer scientists have helped an improvement about computer. However, at the birth of the computer called ENIAC in 1946[1], no one was able to use computer without a computer scientist because the way of programming of it was only to wire by hand. This means that programmer was not able to program without knowledge of computer architecture in those days. However, from 1990s to 2008, the number of programming language had increased, and the capability of the personal computer also had been improved[2]. As a result, in 2000s, the number of programmer has been increased, and in 2008, there numerous programmers in the world.
In Japan business society, the number of programmer is fewer than the number of what most companies need, so the companies decide to hire a person who is not computer scientist as a programmer. As a result of this decision, the companies can produce a lot of big software. On the other hand, the execution speeds of software can sluggish even if using high-performance CPU. This kind of problem is caused when programmers code the program by not thinking about CPU. Therefore, we need to clarify the role of the programmer in making full use of CPU, and summarizing and listing up it for non-major computer science programmers.
In this paper, we will suggest ten commandments about how to code by making full use of CPU in each case for the programmers. In particular, we will look at clock per cycle of CPU from running program to finish, and find out the good performance code with comparing each code. Title: Learn how to control a robot by using C language
My last experiment class was to learn how to control a robot in order to move a robot against the wind automatically. For that, I got two tasks. The tasks were to control a robot in simple ways as a Teach Assistant said. It’s because to learn how to control a robot at first. The robot has a display, terminal, and some architecture to be needed to compile C source code. In addition, there is a library which contains a lot of C source codes to control the robot. So, I can control the robot by C language, and I learned how to control the robot through the tasks. Therefore I’ll be able to move the robot against the wind automatically in next experiment class.

Do you want to know about vending machines? That’s great! It’s because the vending machines have enhancement right now. So, I'll tell you all about them from general description to advanced example for the future, in order to understand them deeply and why they have enhancement.
Generally speaking to a feature and appearance, a vending machine is an automated machine where we can buy various goods such as drinks and foods. The machine is fully automated, and is thus unmanned. It’s as big as a refrigerator and has three parts. One is a slot part where we can insert coins and bills. Another is a selection part which has a display and buttons for showing and choosing the goods. The Other is a covered area where we can collect the goods.
Next, let’s move on how to use vending machines. It’s quite simple to use them. There are only two steps to buy goods from a vending machine. First, insert the appropriate amount of money into the slots, and then choose the goods by using buttons on the display. That’s all! After making a selection, the goods will drop into the covered area, so you’re able to take the goods out of the vending machine. It’s quite simple, isn’t it? Up until now, most vending machines functioned in this manner around the world. However, that’s the general description just until now. There is a new generation of vending machines in some parts of the world. I mean that there are possibilities that the description of vending machine will be added. As an example, I’ll tell you two unique functions which the latest vending machines in Japan have.
The functions are electronic money and a wireless LAN functions. These functions are expanding two possibilities of a traditional vending machine. Those are on the points that more users friendly and multi-functional. One, the new machine is users friendly in that we can purchase goods with electronic money such as a prepaid card. So, we need only to tap the panel with the prepaid card. The other, with the having wireless LAN application built-in, the new machine can be used in various ways. For example, in Japan, there are some vending machines that we can access the Internet via using our own computer. Other, some machines can show information such as advertisements or a weather forecast like a television. In addition, some new machines can also provide food and drinks for free in the event of a natural disaster. They all examples are based on the reason why manufactures can manipulate the machines using the wireless LAN.
These are the unique functions. The functions mean the new vending machines are expanding possibilities. Additionally, if the new vending machines are set up everywhere, the new vending machines will become an essential tool of the ubiquitous society and reserve supply for the natural disaster.
Hence, the vending machine is enhancing right now. If you are interested in the vending machine, you should come to Japan, and feel that on your eyes. That’s all. Thank you for your listening!

[QUESTION]
Now, a Vending Machine is so popular in Japan that we can say it as a Japanese culture. So, explain it FREELY to the foreigner who doesn’t know it, as UNIQUE as you can.
[COMPOSITION]
You wanna know about a vending machine? OK, I'll explain to you what it is.
In the general meaning, a vending machine is the machine for vending various goods such as food and drink automatically. So there is nobody to vend without the machine. The size of it is as big as a fridge, and there are some objects on it for a costumer to buy goods. Generally, those are three slots, buttons, and a display.
The two slots are fit on for dropping into a coin and paper currency. The other one is fit on a bottom part of a vending machine for taking goods. Addition to it, a display and buttons are also necessary for showing and choosing goods.
But it’s quite simple to use it. If you want to buy goods from a vending machine, you have only to take two steps. First, drop enough money to buy goods into the slots, and then choose the goods on a display by using buttons on it. That’s all. After choosing goods, it drops a bottom slot, so you’re able to take the goods from a vending machine. It’s simple, isn’t it? Anyway, that’s the general way to buy goods from a vending machine.
But, that’s the just general expression what a vending machine is, until now. A vending machine in particular place has changed for next-generation. Guess what? Recently, as improving IT, a vending machine is going to progress. For example, a vending machine in Japan is so popular and unique in the world that we can say it as one of Japanese cultures. It’s just because it has unique functions. So, let me extra explain about what it is.
Some vending machine in Japan has an electric money function and wireless LAN application built-in, and it makes Japanese circumstance better on three points. Those points are friendly, serviceable, and safe.
At the friendly point, the vending machine has a terminal to pay electric money by using a prepaid card. It means that it’s no time to buy goods. So, we have only to touch a prepaid card to the terminal. So to speak, Japanese circumstance will become friendly.
At the serviceable point, having wireless LAN application built-in, we’re able to have the access zone to connect a personal computer to the web. In addition, if it also has the display like a TV, it can show information such as advertisement and forecast. Therefore, we’re able to get information conveniently from the vending machine.
At the safe point, drinks or foods in the vending machine can be essential goods when natural disaster happens. It means that goods in can be retrieved from the vending machine in disaster area for free. It’s because a maker of the vending machine can switch the mode of the vending machine, by using the wireless LAN.
That’s the expression of the vending machine in Japan. How do you think about that? I think a vending machine has more possibility to progress than the Japan case. Don’t you think so?

About cultural transition between JOMON and YAYOI period etc.
1st essay
The partial summary of “Finding Japan” 2008/02/28
Chapter1: A short history of Japan and its periods
Topic: About Cultural transition between JOMON and YAYOI in Japan
After correcting
It is said that the period of JOMON began at 8,000B.C.E. BC. and continued until around 300 to 200 BC. In this period, native Japanese lived with same species together as a tribe and learned started to develop their cultural action. For example they cultivated paddy to grow rice, they made stone tools or, clay pottery, and they began to hunt animals and fishes. But, they hadn’t had developed social class yet in this period.
After that Later, in the new period called “YAYOI Period”, which continued around the 3rd century BC. Personally, I think the specific differences between JOMON and YAYOI are whether they have social stratification or not and whether they touch other region or not. In this period, there was a queen called “Himiko”. and It is said that she sent envoys to China and they brought China’s culture to Japan. So, written Japanese language today has similar Chinese characters such as known as 'Kanji'.
today Japan has the Japanese written language that is similar to Chinese one such as “Kanji”.

Subject: With regard to correct my sentence
To Berlitz
I always appreciate your business.
I'm writing to ask you to correct this sentence below.
TOPIC: How to remember new English vocabulary for me
I take a two-step approach to remember new English vocabulary.
First step is to write and to say the word to remember the vocabulary. It’s because it is so simple and shortest way to remember the vocabulary.
And second step is to relate the vocabulary to the similar one or similar meaning phrase as much as possible. It’s because it is difficult to forget the remembered vocabulary in this way. It means I should make a network of English vocabularies. It’s because if I make the network larger and larger, I’m difficult to forget the vocabulary and I remind it easier if I forget it. So it is so simple way to remind it if I forget it because I have only to follow the network.
Therefore, I can remember the vocabulary in any way, and if I forget it, I can remind it in any way. So, when I remember new English vocabulary, I’m not conscious of remembering individually, but I’m conscious of relating it to another vocabulary and broadening my English vocabulary network.

Why is the culture of Japan unique?
Before correction
In my opinion, I think one of the reasons why Japan has unique culture in the world is involved with the fact that Japan has never been conquered by any other country so far.
This fact is due to the location where Japan is in the world and some historical accidents that are the closed nation called SAKOKU and the failure to invade Japan by Kublai Khan because of sudden storm and so on.
For that, the culture of Japan has rarely been affected by any other country, and it had grown gradually, and finally it became unique.
After correction
In my opinion, I think one of the reasons why Japan has such a unique culture is related to the fact that Japan has never been conquered by any other country.
This is due to the geographical location of Japan and some historical events such as SAKOKU when Japan cut off all ties with the outside world and Kublai Khan's failed attempt to invade Japan.
For these reasons, Japanese culture has received little influence by other countries, and has developed gradually into its unique identity today.

【Unit 1】
1. Is it important for you to study English for your future career? Why or why not?
Yes, of course I think it important for me to study English for my future career. It’s because I think even in Japan my generation won’t be able to stand without regard to the global standard or students all over the world because society as a whole is turning to the overseas market gradually.
And at the same time, we will encounter various problems.
For example, we will encounter a problem of social sustainability. Our resource is not infinitude, so we have to discuss measures against mass consumer society and actualize them, but even now, I don’t think it is come true. I think it’s because some countries or some regions or some people are not interested in that problem. Therefore, our resource will be finished up some day.
However, it is a just one of problems; I guess there are a lot of problems and much more. It means we have to communicate each other over the border because almost of those problems are not domestic ones. I think we need more conversation, more negotiation, and more communication to know each culture, personality, attitude through English.
That means it is important for me to study English for my future career.
2. What do you usually do on the weekend? (Use the AAA technique to answer the question.)
In term, I usually study at computer science and English or do my assignment because my department’s professor gave students a lot of assignments so much as to spend my holiday as a homework time. So ordinarily, we never get our holiday without summer or winter vacation, or without referring to other student’s assignments.
By the way, I think it may be reckless behavior to do own assignments alone. Of course, we should do them alone, but in some situations, it may be important to save our time by taking a short cut because there might be so many events which are more important than assignments.
So, what do you think about this theme?
【Unit 2】
1. Why is the Conversation Management language at the front of your textbook important?
It’s because the Conversation Management language is so useful to continue conversation fluently and to understand something which we don’t know that we can grasp contents of a lesson at the time easily.
Addition to it, the Conversation Management language can encourage students to be aggressive and positive immediately because the Conversation Management language is not so much, so it doesn’t take time to remember that so much.
Therefore, the Conversation Management language is important.
2. What did you learn about your classmates and tutor today?
I learn and realize that my experience to take a Tutorial English at a second semester assists me. It’s because to compare half year ago with now, my English skill about speaking and listening is grown up very much, so I can speak more speedily than then.
However, I think I often use the same phrase; my vocabulary hasn’t changed a little. So, I must focus on learning new vocabulary and new expression deeply, and then I need to become skilled in the use of them. Specifically, I must learn new knowledge with its image because I think I will never master it while I learn it from Japanese.
For example, a dictionary which translates English into Japanese or Japanese into English doesn’t match each meaning exactly, so it may cause to misunderstand its original meaning.
For those thinking, I think there are two points which I should pay attention to.
One point is that it may be useful for me to use a dictionary which translates English into English aggressively to grasp a word’s original meaning.
And another point is that I use the new knowledge and new expression aggressively in this lesson, and I should master them for advancing my English more.
【Unit 3】
1. Why is it important that you participate actively and speak as much as possible in your Tutorial English lessons?
It’s because it makes a situation which I can’t speak English from thinking Japanese because if all classmates speak actively as much as possible, we can’t take enough thinking time. So we have to change our feelings into English directly, not through Japanese. For that, our speaking and listening skill are made rapid progress.
Therefore, it is important for us to participate actively and speak as much as possible in our Tutorial English lesson.
2. Use the Language from Unit 3 to give your best friend some advice about finding a girl/boyfriend.
I got it which you would like to find a girlfriend. So I will give you some advices.
I think it is up to your type.
So, if you ask me when you look for a pretty look girlfriend, you should relate to business field of model. And, if you look for a clever girlfriend, my advice is that you should be a scholar. And, if you look for a strong girlfriend, it might be a good idea to go into a field of sports. And, if you look for a good listening girlfriend, I recommend you should make friends with child minder or nurse.
So they are my opinion, but it might be in arbitrary and biased viewed.
【Unit 4】
1. Why is it important for you to do the Preparation activity before every Tutorial English lesson?
It’s because if we do the Preparation activity and check new words before the lesson with each cycle. We spend a time very effectively because we will have to waste a time to remember new words or new expressions if we forget to do the Preparation activity. So, to do the Preparation activity benefits us; we will be able to make a time to speak English and to discuss in English and so on.
Therefore, it is important for us to do the Preparation activity before every Tutorial English lesson.
2. Respond to the following suggestion and add a new suggestion: "I'm crazy about pan pizza. Why don't we order a Domino's pizza tonight?" (Remember the AAA technique.)
Maybe, but I think it is not effective way because in Japan there is a company which covenants a lot of delivery service companies and the company orders its covenanted companies instead of our ordering. So it is like an intermediate agent.
And when we use that company, we can get a gift product as a favor. So, we can cost downer than we order ordinarily.
So, why don’t we use that service?
【Unit 5】
1. How does answering the Lesson Review Task questions help you improve your English ability?
In my opinion, the Lesson Review Task helps us to remind can-do functions in lesson at the time. And, it gives us a chance to check whether we can memorize can-do functions or not through this Lesson Review Task.
And addition to it, the Lesson Review Task gives us a chance to reuse the Unit’s expressions in writing. So this task is very useful for us to learn new expressions. And it means, we can improve our English ability through this task.
2. Agree or disagree with the following statement and give reasons for your answer: Blowing your nose on the train is very rude.
Personally, I think that’s not right. It’s because I’m sure it is not polite behavior, but this behavior is a natural action in being human, so if our society prohibits it in law, it might cause a big problem; someone may catch a nasal inflammation or something else. So I feel that it may be a rude behavior, but “very rude” is too strong a word for this case.
【Unit 6】
1.Why should you speak only English in the booths, even during the break?
It’s because our goals are to improve each own English skill. Specifically, It might be different between each own goals, but I’m sure all of classmates want to improve own English ability.
So, according to this concept, we should immerse ourselves in English because in this term which we immerse in English we have a lot of opportunities to speak English and this experience make us improve own English ability.
Especially in Japan, we have only a few opportunities to speak English in ordinary daily life; it may be only in English class. So, we should make the most of a few opportunities. Therefore, we should speak only English in the booths, even during the break.
2. Using as much of the Language from Unit 6 as possible, tell me your plans for next week. Which plan are you looking forward to the most? Why?
In next week, I have three plans to do.
One plan is that the Berlitz lesson will have started, and the first lesson will begin on the 18th February. And in two days from first lesson, I have a second lesson. And in two Fridays time, I have a third lesson. I’m looking forward to this plan the most because this lesson is a private lesson; I have never taken a private lesson. So I’m looking forward to it the most.
Another plan is that I have a meeting for creating the database, but I don’t know yet when this meeting will start because schedule of partner who helps creating the database is not clear right now, so we have to schedule it as soon as possible.
The other plan is to create the server on my network. I bought a server a half year ago, but I have not created the server yet because of compulsory class. So during this vacation, I will study at server and network system through creating server. However, I will be able to get on this work because this work doesn’t have deadline. So I’m going to get on this work when I’m free in next week.
【Unit 7】
1. What topics do you need to review from Units 1-6?
In my opinion, I think I need to review Unit 5 – ask for and give opinion & agree and disagree -. It’s because I guess this expression is often used in discussion and comparing with other’s opinion or idea. So I think this unit is very useful and I need to review this Unit.
2. Which units have you enjoyed the most so far in Tutorial English? Why?
I enjoyed the Unit 1 the most so far. It’s because in this Unit my classmates and I introduce for each other. So I can hear another university life in Waseda. And I’m interested in another life. So this unit 1 “Hello” is very interesting for me.
【Unit 8】
1.Do you want your tutor to correct your errors? Why or why not?
Yes, of course I want my tutor to correct my errors about English. It’s because if my tutor doesn’t point my errors out, I may make a same mistake again. And perhaps, it will continue until I realize it. Therefore I want my tutor to correct my errors.
2.Using the Language from Unit 8, describe an object in your room.
I have a desk. And this desk made of wood is about 1 meter wide and 2 meters high in my room. And I have a server. It is about 2 or 3 kilo-gram and this is shaped rectangular solid. And I have an electronic piano which is about 2 meters wide and 1 meter high.
And I have a basket ball made of rubber. It’s shaped round, but it is not smooth because I used it a number of times.
【Unit 9】
1. Which area of learning English do you find the most difficult, speaking, listening, reading or writing? Why?
Personally, I feel it is the most difficult for me to learn reading activity. It’s because I think, of course, I can read even some complex topics if I can use dictionary, but in a test like a TOEIC or TOEFL about reading section, I can’t use any dictionary, so a score at reading section relies on my own vocabulary whether I get a high score or not.
However, I know I have a limited vocabulary because I don’t study for university entrance examinations; I was a Waseda University high school student. And also my senior at my high school who went abroad to study for a year said to me, “Our – Waseda University high school students’ – vocabulary is crucial disadvantage, so you have to take your less vocabulary into consideration if you want to improve your English skill.”.
In fact, I think vocabulary constitutes for a large share of score at TOIEC. And I feel it’s not only related to reading section, but also related to any other sections, so my less vocabulary causes total score down, and it shows “Our vocabulary is crucial disadvantage”.
Therefore, I think I must add steadily to my vocabulary.
2. Compare your current bag, bicycle or cell phone with your previous bag, bicycle or cell phone.
To compare my current cell phone with my previous one, current one is more hi-tech and useful and better designed than previous one, but previous one is not as heavy as current one. And previous one’s size is smaller than current one’s.
However, current one’s display is much larger than previous one, so current one is more eye-friendly for me than previous one. And current one’ battery is more long-lasting than previous one’s.
But I used previous one for a longer time than current one.
【Unit 10】
1. What expressions or Can-do functions that you have studied so far are still difficult to use? Why?
Personally, I think the most difficult can-do functions to use which I have studied so far are “Describe appearance” and “Talk about clothing” in the Unit 10. It’s because I had to remember a lot of new words which are freckles, hazel, and mole, baggy and pleated for example.
And at a Talking about clothing, I’m originally not interested in clothes, so I might not distinguish cloth’s style even in Japanese. Therefore it is tough for me to remember new words about clothing and express them.
2. Using the Language from Unit 10, describe your best friend's appearance.
My best friend looks like a dog according to his girlfriend’s view, and I agree with her partially because he has short hair and his eye looks like round. And I think also a position of his eyebrows from his eyes is very similar to dog one. And he doesn’t have muscular body, but his body is not chubby, either. I say his body is so-so. So these appearances may be reminiscent of dog.
But he is not as amenable as a dog.
【Unit 11】
1.How would you help a visitor to Japan who looks lost in a train station? What would you say to him or her?
Excuse me, could I help you if you lost in a train station? I know about a train station.
2.Ask me to do you a favor. Explain why you need my help.
Could you do me a big favor? Would you mind taking care of my dog for a while? It’s because I have to get away from home for a while because I heard my grand father is in bad health and no one can look after him right now except me, so I must go there, but I can’t take my dog because my dog hates all vehicle. And definitely, my dog will go hungry if I leave it alone. Therefore, would you mind taking care of my dog for a while?
【Unit 12】
1. How do you remember new vocabulary?
I often remember new vocabulary with its used situation or image.
For example, thinking at a case of “irritated”. First step is that I find out the meaning of this word by using a dictionary which can translate English into English. And then, I write it down. Second step is that I remember the meaning with its used situation or image. So in this case, I will remember this with the image that this word is used when I was caught by traffic jams.
But as is often the case for me, I won’t remember just an image. I need to remember vocabulary with some images. Maybe, it’s not effective way to remember new vocabulary, but I think this way is useful when I speak English because I remind it from image or situation, not through Japanese.
2.What do you intend to do after graduating from university?
I’m definitely going to enroll in a graduate school because I think I will be unregarded if I don’t have my special study or the study is lack of utility. So I must have my utile special study and publish it in academic society until I finish school. Otherwise, I definitely won’t be able to enter the Google Inc.
And I’m probably not going to enter graduate school of Waseda. It’s because I don’t think it is smart way to choose laboratory for Waseda. There may be more appropriate laboratory for me in any other graduate schools than Waseda graduate school. So I might take a test for graduate study.
But anyway, I need to get a high score at each class. So I’m sure I’ll decide my way after I get an excellent record, well… but it is in a case if possible.
